US President Donald Trump has declared he is willing to co-operate with the Democrats in Congress, after losing the Republicans in the Muslim elections. He has acknowledged that his party failed to mobilise voters, arguing the result would be different if he himself were a candidate on the ballot sheet.
Trump’s statements were made during an unexpected call with Politico journalist Dasa Burns, who took place Tuesday evening during a live broadcast.
Asked what went wrong for the Republicans in these elections, the US president said his absence on the ballot sheet and failure to promote participation in supporters affected the election outcome.
I wasn’t the candidate and we didn’t mobilise voters. If I had been on the ballot sheet, we would have won. We would have won anything very easily, Trump said.

The journalist reminded him that he himself had called on citizens to vote, as if he were a candidate in this election. Trump admitted to doing so, but argued voters had not been satisfied with some of the republican candidates.
Another important US president’s statement concerned the possibility of co-operating with the new Congress, where the Democrats have gained control.
Trump said he is willing to co-operate with political opponents on issues related to the country’s interest, hinting he does not want the remaining two years of mandate marked by continuing political clashes.
We’ll work with the Democrats to fix things for our country. I don’t want to stay there for two years and veto everything, the American president said, suggesting he had already contacted some democratic officials.
Asked whether he would consider the possibility of reaching an agreement with the Democrats on the immigration issue, Trump said he would consider any proposals he would assess appropriate and in the country’s interest.
However, he avoided identifying persons who, according to him, bore responsibility for the republican election defeat. At the same time, Trump defended his decision on military intervention in Iran, insisting that he had been right.
