Three companies imported them to Kosovo, 11 tests found E. coli in the producers’ products from Tetovo

Food and Veterinary Agency ( The AUV has taken the decision to ban import of food products from the AD Mlecarna Tetovo stabilisation, northern Macedonia, as well as its removal from the list of imports approved for the Republic of Kosovo. The decision on November 6th 2026 has been made following continued official checks and laboratory tests that have repeatedly recorded the presence of bacteria Escheria coli (E. coli) in the products of this stabilisation, with microbiological results classified as disappointing.

During April 2026, AUV reported 11 tests with disappointing microbiological results. Tests were conducted by AUV labs, the National Institute of Public Health in Kosovo ( IK KPS) and Food Lab laboratory in northern Macedonia. Tested products include white cream, Urda-type products and plant fat preparation, including products Natura Sharplaninska, Olios and Bianco Vacuum.

The products of this stabilisation have been imported to Kosovo through economic operators Vision M.Z. I, Dauti Komerc and Delfin L.T. DAs identified in the records of official checks. All shipments for which laboratory checks and analyses have outlined disappointing results have been rejected at border checkpoints and are not allowed to be placed on the Kosovo Republic market.

In the food industry, E. The coli is used as an important indicator of production hygiene. His presence on microbiological criteria can indicate shortcomings in the treatment of raw materials, equipment hygiene, processing, or sanitation.

The removal of AD Mlecarna Tetovo from the list of approved stabilizers means that products produced by this stabilisation can no longer be imported legally to the Republic of Kosovo as long as the decision remains in force. This measure is not limited to products or tears where differences have been found, but applies to all production stabilisation, regardless of which economic operators seek to import its products. For Kosovo consumers, this represents an additional precautionary measure, which aims to prevent the introduction of products from a stabilisation that has manifested repeated microbiological problems, until the completion and verification of legal requirements for food safety.

The AUV will continue with additional laboratory checks and analyses, as well as with the verification of the productions of this plant, to determine whether previously imported products continue to be found in the stores of operators, in the distribution network, or at retail stations in Kosovo. The controls will include identification of tears, imported and distributed quantities, supply documentation, production and expiration dates, stock status and the taking of samples for additional analysis. In the event of meeting products that fail to meet food safety requirements, The AUV will take relevant legal measures, including the ban on circulation, market withdrawal, consumer reporting, and, in case, the return or annihilation of products.

The Decision Was Made in Action of Law No. 08/L-120 for food and hygiene requirements and microbiological criteria for food products. The ban on import and the removal of stabilisation from the list of approved subjects has also been officially announced by the competent authority of Northern Macedonia.
