According to him, the attacker used a military – scale weapon or, at least, an automatic weapon.

The motive of the attack has not yet been disclosed. However, the anti-terrorism prosecution is leading the investigation and is considering the possibility of the event having racial or religious motives, reports CNN, broadcast Klankosova.tv.

Trappe’s chairman, Ali Rabeh, told BFMTV television that the attacker had fired from a car and seemed to be opening fire indiscriminately in order to cause as many victims.

According to him, the slain person was of African origin, as was one of the wounded. A 12-year-old girl is reported to be among the wounded.

Rabeh said the attacker had fired several locations, including a playground for children, a miracle that there were no more victims.

Police have not yet disclosed the identity or age of the victims.

Meanwhile, French Prime Minister Sébastien LeCornu said that all sources of security forces and judicial authorities have been mobilised for handling the case.

The event took place on the eve of protests warned about Saturday in France, prompted by dissatisfaction with the high cost of living and the state of schools.

Due to the expected protests, the French government has planned an added presence of security forces. According to Minister Nunez, about 70 thousand of their members will be on duty, while several large museums, including Louvre, will remain closed.
