Kosovo police have sponsored 11 police officials over the treatment of the case of Arlinda Zekiaj, who was killed in Vitomirica in Pec. Suspendations were made after the recommendation of Kosovo Police Inspectorate ( IPK), as preliminary investigation into their actions or inactions is under way against officials.
According to the Kosovo Police’s announcement, among the suspended are the task leader of the regional Police Director in Pec, chief of regional investigation, commander and deputy commander of the Police Station in Pec, as well as other police officials.
The list includes Chief of Investigations at the Police Station in Pec, the task manager of Operational Sector Chief, Substation Commander in Vitomirica and four police investigators at the Police Station in Pec.
Police have announced that suspensions are conducted under the Kosovo Police Law, administrative instruction for violations, measures and disciplinary procedures, as well as IPK recommendation.
The referrals were made in the interest of independent investigations, institutional accountability and individual responsibilities, in handling the case, the report said.
Kosovo police have stressed that it remains committed to maintaining integrity and providing service fairly and impartially, as well as that it will co-operate closely with all relevant institutions.
