Durim Elshani, media adviser to Health Minister Arben Vitita, has clarified the circumstances of treating the cancer patient, who has changed his life, saying that according to medical documentation, she had received the prescribed therapy, but the disease had progressed despite treatment.

In a statement published in Facebook, Elshani has called on the media to respect the family’s pain and not link the cause of death to the lack of therapy without relying on medical documentation.

According to the chronology published by Elshan, the patient had been diagnosed with breast cancer six years earlier, and his first treatments with chemotherapy and radio therapy had been successfully completed.

By December 2025, the disease had been restored with metastases to the bones and omentum. After a review by the Consilium of the Oncology Clinic, treatment of Palbociclib and Fulvestrant medications was established.

Elshani has announced that the patient was supplied with therapy in May 2026 and that treatment had continued during the months of June, July, and August.

However, medical examinations had shown progress in the illness and the appearance of new metastases in the brain and the spinal cord, regardless of treatment.

In the final phase, after the assessment that the tumor had developed resistance to first therapy, doctors had decided on the change of treatment, beginning with the case and the brain’s wireless radio therapy in order to control the tumor and alleviate symptoms.

According to the statement, the patient had not tolerated treatment at this stage of the disease and had passed away.

Elshani has stressed that all treatment stages are documented in official medical reports. He has confirmed that the complete medical file is available to authorised parties and competent bodies for verification at the Oncology Clinic.

Because of respect for privacy and the Law on the Protection of Personal Data, the patient’s identity has not been made public.

At the top of the time, we call on the media to respect the family’s pain, so that they do not misinterpret public opinion by suggesting the cause of the patient’s death without relying on any document, because it is difficult for us as an institution to continue exposing the repetition of incorrect reporting in this case, at this time when the patient’s family is in pain.

Apologizing our family about the distress this reaction may bring, we present the official chronology of the patient’s treatment:

Because of strict respect for the privacy and Law for the Protection of Personal Data, identity will not be made public, but we invite all authorized parties and competent organs that want to verify this performance, that the complete medical file is accessible for revision into the Oncology Clinic.

The clinical report and diagnostic examinations testify to this precise chronology of treatment:

• Six years ago: The patient was first diagnosed with breast cancer of the negative triple, which had successfully completed regular treatments with chemotherapy and radio therapy.

• December 2025: After the restoration of the disease (for the second time) with metastases in the bones and omentum, its case was reviewed by Consilium of the Oncology Clinic. After the new analysis resulted in metastatic hormones, doctors determined the new line of treatment of Palbociclib and Fulvestrant meds.

• May 13, 2026: According to regular documentation, the patient is supplied with the Palbociclib drug in sufficient quantities for full treatment until June 13th, 2026. During this period, medical examinations recorded further progress in aggressive bone disease.

• June and July 2026: Due to the identity of the bone disease progress, the medical Consilium has continued without a break the treatment combined with Palbociclib and Fulvestrant. This continued therapy was administered in regular monthly cycles with the aim of further control of the progress of the disease and protection of the bone structure.

• August 2026: The patient has followed treatment where Palbociclib was remanaged in combination with Fulvestrantt. During this time, while the patient was under regular therapy, additional diagnostic examinations have been conducted, which have proved that in spite of the treatment with the therapy in question, the disease had advanced with the appearance of new metastases in the brain and the back shaft. This inevitable scientific evidence refutes the speculation that the disease has progressed as a result of lack of therapy.

• Final phase: Once proven that the aggressive nature of the tumor had developed biological resistance to the first therapy, medical Consilium introduced urgent change in therapeutic line, beginning with the catpecitabie and visual radio therapy in the brain in order to control the tumor and alleviate symptoms. Unfortunately, the patient’s body could not tolerate treatment at this stage and she passed away.

All these stages and clinical decisions are documented and confirmed in official medical reports, which completely refute the groundless claims that the patient has died because of the lack of therapy.

We repeat, that we remain completely transparent and reconfirm that the medical file is available fully for any official and professional verification.
