19-year-old defender, taken out of Barcelona’s famous academy, La Massia’s earned the trust of Coach Hansi Flick, getting involved in the first team plans at the beginning of the 2026/27 season.
Espart can play on both sides of the defence, which gives him more alternative to the German technonic. It is seen as an additional opportunity for competition in these positions, where Barcelona is also available to Joao Cancelon and Julius Cowden.

The Catalan club has taken steps to secure its future, continuing the contract by 2030. The new agreement includes a 100m-euro release clause, which makes any effort to transfer costly.
According to reports, however, Premier League’s interest could be concrete if Espart loses space in Barcelona formation. Liverpool and Arsenal are tracking his situation, while the English club from Merseyside can see it as a possible reinforcement for the future.
On the other hand, Liverpool is also considering the future of Ronald Aruyo, who reportedly borrowed from the English team for a season. Uruguayn defenders have shown good performance on the right side of defence, and Liverpool can buy his cardboard for about 55m euros.
Right now, it’s not about a confirmed agreement on Espart. It remains to be seen whether the interest of English clubs will turn into concrete bids, while Barcelona has a favourable negotiating position thanks to the long-term contract and the high release clause.
