After more than a year in Serbia’s prison, Behar Preniqi has been released, ending his family’s long wait to see him again in their midst.
The happy news has been made known by his family members through a Facebook post, where they have expressed emotions about the release of Behar and the expectation of his return to the family.
Today’s holiday for our family, our brother Behar Prenqi is released from prison in Serbia. We look forward to his arrival, says the posting of family members.
Behar Preniqi’s case was reported by the Signal newspaper on August 5th 2025, when he was arrested by Serbian authorities at the Bayakovo border, at the border between Croatia and Serbia, as he was returning from Germany.
His arrest had been made under claims that he had been a member of the Kosovo Liberation Army, claims that were then denied by a family.
