Following complaints by parties and confirmation of the life sentence by the Court of Appeals, the brothers live and Nexhat Vlasaliu, convicted of killing businessman Bedri Rexhepi, today, on October 29, 2026, face justice again, this time at the Supreme Court in Kosovo.
The hearing in the highest judicial instance is held in the wake of complaints to the parties, while the Court of Appeals had earlier left the Constitutional Court Act in Pristina, with which the two brothers were sentenced to life in prison.
The family of the late businessman Bedri Rexhepi is represented by lawyer Besnik R. Berisha, who during previous procedures had rejected defence requirements for annulment of the conviction act.
On May 28th 2025, the Constitutional Court in Pristina had convicted him of living, and Nexhat Vlasaliu of the serious murder of businessman Bedri Rexhepi and the damage to the corpse, condemning them to life in prison.
This ruling was confirmed on April 3, 2026 by the Court of Appeals, which had rejected defence complaints, leaving in force sentences pronounced by the first degree.
How did the murder of businessman Bedri Rexhepi take place?
According to the Pristina Constitutional Prosecutor’s Act, brothers Jeton and Nexhat Vlasaliu had planned the killing of businessman during the period from January 9th to April 8, 2021, with the aim of benefiting rich.
The prosecution had claimed that the two brothers had put the businessman madly, offering him two cars worth 30 thousand euros for sale.
On April 8, 2021, Bedri Rexhepi had gone to the home of one of the accused in the village of Vlasal, where, according to the indictment, he was deprived of life.
According to the prosecution’s claims, Jeton Vlasaliu had embarrassed the businessman, believing that he had with him the amount of 30 thousand euros. However, only $8,000 had been found in the victim.
After the murder, according to the indictment, the two brothers had taken action to hide the body and to eliminate the traces of crime.
The businessman’s mortar remains were found on September 30, 2022, at the site called Great Mountain in the village of Vlasal in Novoberda more than a year after his disappearance.

During the review of the case at the Court of Appeals, the faithful lawyer R. Berisha, the representative of the victim’s family, had rejected the defence requirements for turning the case into a retrial.
Berisha had estimated that it was an extremely serious crime while supporting a life sentence on the two brothers.
According to his statements during previous procedures, Nexhat Vlasaliu had been the mastermind of the assassination, while the executioner lives Vlasaliu.
On the other hand, the defense of the convicts had rejected the act of first degree, demanding his cancellation.
However, the Court of Appeals had estimated that there was no basis for changing or canceling the Constitutional Court’s decision.
