These animals are mainly active at night and can sleep up to 21 hours a day.

They live alone in addition to breeding and caring for their young.

The black – footed bridesellates were declared extinct because of the destruction of habitat and disease.

However, they were rediscovered in the 1980s, promoting special programmes for breeding and restoring them to nature.

According to the World Wildlife Fund ( WWF), habitat loss, and disease continue to be the main threats to their survival.

Biologists estimate that some 3 thousand natural – grown weasels are needed to ensure the long – term recovery of this endangered species.

The conservation efforts are giving hope that a once lost animal can once again have a future in nature. /Telegraphy/
