Investigations into allegations of foreign interference in national elections held this week in Israel have also expanded towards Turkey, which is being considered along with Qatar for possible involvement in campaigns aimed at affecting the election process.
According to the Israeli portal Ynet, the investigation is focusing on claims of possible efforts to influence both states.

Authorities are considering whether co-ordinated campaigns have been conducted with the aim of influencing the vote and public attitudes during the election process, reports the Times of Israel.
In the investigation, Israeli media reports have included the foreign intelligence agency Mossad, as well as Israel’s Internal Security Service, Shin Bet.
The involvement of these two institutions has been reported within the investigation into possible external interventions, which are not limited to allegations about Qatar, but also Turkey.
So far, however, it is about suspicions that are being investigated and not of confirmed conclusions that there has been outside intervention.
Both Qatar and Turkey have denied accusations of involvement in trying to influence the election process.
