The group of female MPs has expressed deep concern and indignation following the assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj in Pec, demanding full investigation into the case and reviewing any possible institutional responsibility.
Through a Kosovo Assembly announcement, MPs have stressed that this tragic event testifies to the urgent need to combat childicide and ensure the safety and life of women in the country.
We strongly condemn this act and ask all competent institutions to act with urgency, conduct full investigations and ensure that those responsible face justice. We also ask that any institutional responsibility for negligence or inaction be considered, the report says.
The group of MP women has estimated that childicide is not a private matter, but a serious social and institutional problem, requiring responsibility, decisive response and concrete preventive measures.
They have stressed that protecting women’s life and dignity should be the unconditional obligation of any institution.
The MP women’s group will continue to be engaged in addressing this phenomenon and in seeking institutional responsibility, in order for such cases to be prevented and no woman left without the protection it belongs to, is further said in response.
