According to the German Prosecution, he allegedly had been in touch since July 2025, through a third party, with a Russian intelligence service.

The information allegedly collected included data on the production of armoured vehicles, ammunition and explosives, as well as information on military personnel and installations in countries serving to protect NATO’s east wing.

According to German authorities, part of this information was available publicly, while other data was allegedly provided by people working in the European arms industry.

The arrest comes at a time when Germany has increased alertness to alleged sabotage and spying activities, which authorities attribute to Russia.

Since the launch of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, several people suspected of spying in Moscow have been arrested in Germany in February 2022.
