One of the main data presented at the forum was that bilateral trade between Kosovo and Germany reached about 600m euros in 2025, marking growth of approximately 15 percent compared to the previous year.

The executive director of the German-Kosovo Economic Ode, Besnik Vasoli, has highlighted the great interest in participation in the forum and the role of diaspora in the economic development of both countries.

Today we want Kosovo to have a stronger place in the German economy. This forum shows how great the interest of working together is, Vasol stated, adding that discussions will focus on artificial intelligence, energy, advanced production and industry.

German Ambassador to Kosovo Rainer Rudolph estimated that economic relations between the two countries are strong, but that there is still room for expanding trade and increasing investments.

He singled out the Kosovo diaspora in Germany as an important factor in strengthening ties between the two countries.

Germany is home to the largest Kosovo diaspora abroad, which creates a close personal-level network between our two countries, Rudolf said, Telegrafi writes.

According to him, German companies contribute to Kosovo’s economy through job creation, development of expertise and bringing new technologies.

Rudolf also stressed the potential for co-operation in the field of energy transition, praising that Kosovo provides opportunities for development of new projects and investments in the sector.

He underlined that, despite global challenges, including inflation and uncertainty in energy markets, the two countries must seize existing opportunities to deepen the economic partnership.

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti highlighted the long-standing ties between Kosovo and Germany, stressing the importance of institutional and economic co-operation.

He cited the role of the Kosovo diaspora in Germany as one of the main pillars of relations between the two countries, while stressing that their ties extend beyond trade exchanges.

Kurt also talked about his contacts with German business representatives, citing a May meeting held in Nordrhein-Westfalen, where he discussed the possibilities for building new economic partnerships.

During the forum, the prime minister stressed the importance of attracting foreign investment and exploiting Kosovo’s economic potential. Co-operation with German businesses, according to him, provides an opportunity for economic development, expansion of production activity and creation of new jobs.

Deputy Director General Dr. Nina Wunderlich presented data on the development of economic relations between the two countries, praising the growth of bilateral trade and the presence of German companies in Kosovo.

In 2025 our bilateral trade reached approximately 600m euros, an increase of about 15 percent compared to last year, and this is very impressive, Wunderlich said.

She announced that, according to trade chamber data, about 200 companies with German capital are active in Kosovo.

Wunderlic stressed that the partnership between the two countries is not limited to the value of trade and investment, but is also based on close human and economic ties.

Our partnership is far beyond the trade and investment figures, she said, citing that some 600 thousand members of the Kosovo diaspora in Germany create personal ties that could be transformed into long-term economic opportunities.

According to Wunderlich, economic co-operation is expanding in other sectors, including production, digital services and innovative technologies. These areas could contribute to Kosovo’s greatest integration into European value chains.

Investments and Energy transition, opportunities for further co-operation

Discussions at the third German-Kosovo Economic Forum highlighted the importance of expanding co-operation beyond traditional trade, with a focus on investments, technological development, production and energy.

As Germany remains an important trade partner and investment partner for Kosovo, data presented at the forum points to the further potential of economic relations between the two countries.

The rise in bilateral trade, the presence of around 200 companies with German capital, and the links created through the diaspora were set aside as factors that can help enhance investments and create new economic opportunities.

The forum served as the platform for discussing future economic co-operation steps between Kosovo and Germany, at a time when attracting investments and diversising the economy remain among the issues of importance to Kosovo’s economic development. /Telegraphy/
