A serious yet unclear event occurred Monday in the village of Babacoq of Decani, where an elderly man has been found in serious health, lying on the floor of his house, with multiple injuries to his body and broken ribs. Police have launched investigations under suspicion of criminal activity, serious bodily access, the Signal newspaper reports.
According to information provided by the signal, the victim is Muharrem Etemi, about 84, who lived alone in his home in Babacojq.
The event was reported on October 26, 2026, about 14:40, by a relative of the victim, A. About 45 years old, who had gone to visit him.
But when he arrived at home, 84-year-old had not responded to the calls.
Worried by the lack of reaction, the family had looked through the window, where they had noticed the elderly man lying on the floor with no visible clothes and injuries in various parts of the body.
Shortly thereafter, they had entered the house and had notified the police.
Police patrols and investigators at the Decani Police Station have emerged on the scene, while regional investigation units have also been announced in the case.
The old man was initially transported with the ambulance of the main Family Medicine Centre in Decani to the Regional Hospital in Gjakova.
Four broken ribs, bruises, and previous injuries
The victim’s condition has resulted much more serious after medical examinations.
According to information given by the health care doctor to investigators, 84-year-old had about four broken ribs, other bodily injuries and bruises allegedly caused earlier.
Due to serious health and risk for life, he has been transferred urgently to the University Clinical Centre in Pristina for specialised treatment.
The circumstances of the elderly person’s suffering these injuries remain unclear.
It is still unknown whether 84-year-old was physically assaulted by a person when injuries were caused and how long he had been lying without help.
The State Prosecution has been announced in the case, which has directed the initiative of investigations into criminal work — heavy body failure.
So far no suspected person has been identified.
