Democratic League of Kosovo MP Armend Zemaj has issued fierce accusations against the government over mismanagement of the health system in the country, based on the findings of the European Commission’s Progress Report.
From the Parliament’s speaker, Zemaj said that despite the fact that the health budget in 2025 amounted to 358m euros, a large portion of these tools have been left without spending, while public hospitals face the dramatic lack of essential drugs and basic services.
According to him, the Progress Report has not presented merely technical remarks, but it has spread deep problems in planning, management and functioning of the health sector.
This report undermines government propaganda for health success and sets out in the face of the reality of hospitals, patients and health professionals. We have a bigger budget, but essential drugs still missing. We have promises of digitalization, but fragmented and unfunctioned health intelligence system, Zemaj said.
The opposition MP raised major questions about where separate means are remaining, throwing strong doubts about disabilities and close to one-time tenders.
How is it that we have millions available while patients are forced to buy medicine and therapies themselves? Is it a question of disability, malmanagement or single-source tenders? I believe it’s the last one, he’s done.
