Kosovo Communist Association ( The AKK) has asked the Finance Ministry to proceed with the bill that envisions the specific grant for social services, assessing that lack of sustainable financing is leaving the Centres for Social Work ( QPS) without necessary support.

In his reaction, the AKK Board has announced that municipalities have been seeking this grant since 2022, while according to this association, the Finance Ministry has withdrawn the draft law on changing the Law on Finances of Local Power, which envisioned its creation.

According to this association, the specific grant would enable employment of more professionals, providing basic labor tools, investments in space and security, and compensation of overtime employees.

The AKK estimates that these measures would affect the improvement of services for citizens, stressing that many of these needs are currently not met or remain insufficient.

The response is said to be that social workers face serious cases and heavy responsibilities, working even after regular hours, often without necessary support.

It is unacceptable to block the funding mechanism and then to seek accounts only from the municipalities and social workers. Who is responsible for this long – term procrastination?

The association has also criticised, as it calls, institutions’ attention to the Centres for Social Work only after serious cases, citing the case in Pec and the murder of a woman near the QPS in Ferizaj.

According to the AKK, inspections are being warned after these events, while the needs of institutions offering social services continue to remain without a solution.

Any negligence should be investigated. But inspections after the tragedies do not annul responsibility for obstructing funding, it is said in response.

In the end, The AKK has called on the Ministry of Finance to immediately prosecute the relevant bill, stressing that financing social services is necessary for the protection of citizens.

The Ministry of Finance must take the bill out of the drawer and proceed immediately. Protection of life cannot wait indefinitely! /Telegraph/
