From 2010 to October 26th, 2026, 67 women were registered within the family, while this year marks the highest number of cases during this period.
According to Kosovo Police data, published by Radio Free Europe, eight women have been killed by 26 October this year, exceeding the number of cases recorded in each of the previous years.

The data shows that six cases were recorded in 2010, while in 2011 five women were killed. In 2012, three cases were recorded, and in 2013 one occasion.
During 2014 and 2015, three cases were recorded, and in 2016 and 2017, two at a time.
The number of murdered women increased to seven in 2018, and in 2019 five cases were recorded. In 2020, seven cases were again recorded.
Three cases were recorded in 2022 and 2023 by four, and in 2024 three cases. In 2025 a case was recorded.
During 2026, however, the number of women killed within the family has reached October eight to 26, making this year the most lethal in statistics presented since 2010.
The last case that has shocked the country is the murder of Arlinda Zekaj, who was killed Sunday evening in Vitomirica of Pec. According to Gazeta Signal reports, she had previously reported domestic violence and sought help.
The data brings attention to concern about violence against women and the importance of institutional response, especially when victims report threats or seek protection.
Statistics have been updated on October 26, 2026, while the data source is Kosovo Police.
