Tom Cruise will be honoured with a Life Achieving Award from the American Film Institute.

The award will be delivered to him at a Gala dinner in Los Angeles at the Dolby Theatre on April 24th of next year.

Catherine Kennedy, chairman of the AFI board, said Cruise left his mark on contemporary cinema.

Tom Cruise is a global icon, she said in a statement, praising his commitment as an actor and producer and his belief in the ability of films to connect people.

Cruise, 64, has been in the film industry for more than four decades, playing in Rysky Business, A Few Good Men’s, Jerry Maguire’s, MPority Reporting and the series “Mission: Impossible.

He’s nominated for three Oscar awards for his work as an actor: for Best Actor in Films éBorn on the Four of Julie and Jery Maguire, and Best Supporter in the film cepgoguelia. He was nominated to be a producer when Top Gun: Maverick was in competition for Best Film.

Last year, Cruise received an Oscar honour at the Governors Awards of the Academy of Arts and Film Sciences. The AFI Award for Lifetime AFI was established in 1973 and given to individuals whose work has promoted the film and stuck to the test of time.

Cruise will join a list of honoured John Ford, Bette Davis, Sidney Poiter, Steven Spielberg, Denzel Washington, Nicole Kidman and Eddie Murphy, who received this honor earlier this year. Revenues from the galaxy will benefit the educational and artistic initiatives of the AFI. /Telegraphy/
