Some people experience nausea, dizziness, and even vomiting during their trips with electric cars, while experts are trying to understand the reasons behind the phenomenon.
According to experts, one possible explanation relates to the way the brain processes movement. When eye signals, inner ear, and body do not match, symptoms similar to travel disease may arise.
Electric machines have certain characteristics that can affect sensitive ones. One is a lack of engine noise, which in traditional cars can help passengers to perceive speedier.
Another factor is regenerational braking, through which the car slows down when the driver releases the gas pedal, restoring energy for the battery. If the slowdown is immediate, passengers may experience shocks that increase concern.
Likewise, frequent accelerations and slowdowns, especially in heavy traffic, can exacerbate symptoms in people prone to nausea during travel.
Some passengers have reported that their concerns have emerged after they started traveling by electric vehicles. However, not everyone experiences the same symptoms, and some say that they feel as good or even better as traveling with traditional cars.
Experts stress that research on the issue is still limited and there is insufficient evidence to conclude that electric vehicles cause more mix than fuel cars. Hence, additional studies are needed to improve the relationship between the characteristics of these vehicles and the concerns experienced by some passengers.
