Ukraine resumes connection with Starlink, military fears gain speed

Ukraine has restored its stable connection to the Starlink satellite network after its army experienced several days with limited internet access, the country’s defence minister has announced.

Kiev relies on the Starlink and Starshill military service to operate drones and communication on battlefields.

Last week, Ukraine accused US President Donald Trump of urging Elon Musk to limit the use of the network by the Ukrainian Army.

According to Ukrainian authorities, restrictions caused those who feared to lose contact when flying at speeds of 161 km/h or more.

Trump denied giving such an order, while later declared that Musk had restored his service.

Defence Minister Yevheni Khmara said the fears could already reach speeds of over 400km/h through the network, indicating that previous capacities have been restored.

This outcome is especially important to our front, soldiers, drone operation, logistics and communication, he declared.

The Ukrainian army uses widely the Starlink network, which consists of thousands of satellites in earth’s low orbit, especially in remote front areas. Russia is not authorized to use this service. /Telegraphy/
