US President Donald Trump has again declared that the outcome of the war in Ukraine is near, claiming that the parties are closer to peace than ever before.
Trump made these statements as he commented on the release from Russia of Steven Hubard, a retired teacher who had been arrested after fighting on the Ukrainian side.

According to the American president, the release of Hubard came after a conversation he had with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the outcome of the war. Trump claimed Russia had given nothing in return for this development.
I said, “Can you free Stephen Hubard?” … and now he’s coming back, Trump said during a roundtable discussion at the White House, where the cybercrime issue was addressed.
Meanwhile, Yuri Usakov, a close associate of Russian President Vladimir Putin, has also expressed appreciation that the war in Ukraine is nearing its end.
Ukrainian conflict is coming to an end, Usshakov said.
I don’t know how close we are, but things are moving in that direction, he said, answering a question about prospects for the outcome of the conflict.
Usakov also indicated that Russia is ready to resume trilateral talks with the United States of America and Ukraine in mid-November. According to him, negotiations are likely to take place in Abu Dhabi.
