The agreements concern extradition, mutual judicial assistance in criminal cases and the transfer of convicted persons.
Justice Minister Donika Grovalla said the extradition agreement defines procedures and conditions for the extradition of wanted persons, both for prosecution and execution of sentences pronounced by judicial authorities.

She stressed that the agreement for mutual judicial assistance creates legal grounds for exchanging evidence and developing criminal procedures beyond state borders.
The realisation of this agreement strengthens our Republic’s capacity to co-operate with Sweden’s authorities in investigating and dealing with criminal acts, facilitating evidence and development of criminal procedures beyond state borders, Gervala said.
Meanwhile, the agreement on transferring convicted persons envisions the possibility that they will continue to suffer punishment in the state where they have permanent residence.
According to the minister, it aims to facilitate their rehabilitation and reintegration in the society, setting the conditions and transfer procedures between the two countries.
