Justice Minister Donika Grovalla has stated that she does not consider her resignation as a mechanism that would help identify the quickest and deepest institutional responsibilities in the case of Arlinda Zekaj, which was killed on October 25th.
Asked about the demands for her to resign after Zekiaj’s murder, Gervala has said she would have taken such a step if she believed her departure from office would contribute to whitewashing and inaction and institutional inaction.

She has estimated that the opposite is true, demanding that she be allowed to continue working on addressing institutional responsibilities and supporting domestic violence victims.
If I considered the resignation to be the mechanism for which we would contribute to a more accurate and deeper identification of responsibilities for action and inaction, I would have resigned. I think exactly the opposite is. Citizens of the Republic of Kosovo know that I am on the side of the victims at a high public cost. I assure you that victims of domestic violence have the most powerful ally today in the national co-ordinator, let us do our job, allow us to make sure that they’re exposed and addressed to responsibilities and then we discuss the issue of resignations again, Gervala said.
