Fenerbahce managements must soon make one of the most important decisions in the club’s modern history: to expand the existing Kadikoy stadium or build a new one entirely in Istanbul’s Maltepe neighbourhood.
According to the Turkish newspaper Hurriyet, Aziz Yildirim and board members have not yet decided which option to choose, and that is the question that is currently of the greatest interest to fans.

Choban Stadium in Cadikoy currently has 47,911 spectators. On 9 September, the management announced that the enlargement project was complete and that the capacity would increase to about 64,000 countries.
The 50m-euro project also includes 52 new areas, and the club expects an additional 25m euros in revenues annually from enlargement.
The second option is much more ambitious. The new Stadium in Malta would have a capacity of 80,000 countries, and according to estimates, would increase revenues from tickets, seasonal tickets, and match days by 60 to 70 percent.
Cadicoy has been Fenerbahce’s home since the establishment of the club, so a shift to a new location would mean a departure from tradition for many fans. On the other hand, a new stadium would give the Istanbul club an incomparable capacity with every rival in Turkey. /Telegraphy/
