The Constitutional Prosecutor in Mitrovica has provided details for the action conducted today in the country’s north, under several months of investigation into allegations of smuggling goods from Serbia through illegal routes.
During shares held from May to September, including today’s action, over 22 vehicles and goods worth over 200,000 euros have been seized, while 504 live birds without origin and health certificates have been eliminated because of the human health risk.
According to the prosecution, the action was conducted in co-operation with the Kosovo Police, Customs and the Kosovo Agency for Intelligence ( AKI, following investigations that started in April of this year.
According to the prosecution, investigations were launched in April 2026, while through separate investigative measures have been identified illegal ways, persons and suspected vehicles, as well as locations where goods were downloaded, deposited, and then distributed to the market.
The cars used for the event, in most cases, were modified for smuggling, removing their back seats. According to the announcement, drivers, when observing the presence of police officials, abandoned vehicles and left the country.
The seized goods include food products, alcoholic beverages and nonalcoholics, energy drinks, cigarettes and ungroaned drugs, toilet products, as well as textiles, including protected commercial brands without proper authorization or license.
The prosecution has indicated that the investigation is in the final phase and that the criminal procedure is continuing against persons suspected of criminal acts of smuggling goods and banned trade.
