Protests are being held indicating the request for justice for Arlinda and institutional accountability for the way her case was handled before the assassination.

The assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj, on October 25th in Vitomirica of Peja, has sparked numerous public reactions and demands for institutional accountability.

Before being killed, Zekij had repeatedly sought the assistance of institutions, warning that her life was in danger.

After the event, justice and security institutions have reviewed the actions taken in its case, while reports prepared at the request of the prime minister have recorded successive failures in its treatment.

Kosovo’s Prosecutorial Council has approved the suspension of chief Peja prosecutor Joy Vucetaj, and the prosecutor of the case, Arlinda Nallban-Gacaferri, as well as establishing investigative panel.

Meanwhile, demand for resignations have also been addressed to Justice Minister Donika Grovalla, and Interior Minister Xhelal Svechla, who have opposed leaving the post.
