New policy, old thought-making warns of continuing Serbian nationalism to Kosovo on Student List

The Student List’s victory in the 25 October parliamentary elections in Serbia could bring about changes in this state’s relations with the countries of the region, but not also in reports with Kosovo.

Thus Croatia’s politicalologist Davor praises the construction, which says, even after Aleksandar Vucinqi’s departure from power, nationalist attitudes towards Kosovo could continue.

In a conversation for Dukagjin, the designer has said that the Student List’s position towards Kosovo is determined by its political document, known as Kosovo’s ʹmorandium, while warning that political change in Belgrade does not necessarily imply a change of approach to Kosovo Albanians and independence.

The position of the Student List on the Kosovo issue is determined by their memorandum. The very selection of this document is significant, as it relates to the Memorandum of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts ( 1986’s SANU, which preceded the nationalist twist in the former Yugoslavia, has declared construction.

According to him, approach to Kosovo Albanians remains rooted in Serbian political thinking and continues to be present even in a considerable part of the political spectrum gathered around the Student List.

Dishumanizing towards Kosovo Albanians is common in Serbia’s political thinking and, unfortunately, it prevails even in an important part of the political spectrum gathered around the Student List, he has said.

Kosovo, single exception from possible regional change

Speaking of the concept of the so-called Serbian World, the designer has estimated that the Student List differs from the approach of Serbia’s territorial enlargement beyond the borders of neighbouring states, but that Kosovo remains exempt.

As for the report with the Serbian World, the situation is somewhat more favourable. The Student List does not share Serbia’s enlargement concept beyond the borders of neighbouring states. The only exception is Kosovo, with regard to which there is no willingness to recognise independence exists, has declared the construction.

For Croatian politician, this distinction is essential to understanding how far political change can go in Serbia.

According to him, the Student List’s victory could affect Belgrade’s relations with other countries in the region, but provides no reason to expect similar progress in reports with Pristina.

Although, in many ways, it will continue the policy of the previous administration, especially in terms of scepticism towards European integration and efforts to maintain a balance in relations with Russia, China and the United States, the biggest change the Student List can bring will be related to regional relations. At the same time, unfortunately, only Kosovo cannot expect any real progress, he has said.

The construction has added that Serbia’s relations with other countries in the region could become less confrontational.

Belgrade’s relations with other countries in the region could become more relaxed, with less hostile rhetoric and no indirect threats to the sovereignty of neighbouring states, it has declared building.

Montenegro may benefit, while Croatia may lower tensions

Change of power in Serbia, according to the designer, could create more favourable conditions for Montenegro in the European integration process.

He has estimated that losing the influence of people close to Vuciqi, who, according to him, hampered Montenegro’s membership process in the European Union, could give Podgorica more room for action in an important phase of negotiations.

In this sense, power change in Serbia is the best news for Montenegro, as it extends the scope of action to a crucial moment of EU membership negotiations. The key people of Vuciqi, who obstructed this process from within Montenegro, have lost their support in Belgrade, he said, Builder.

As for Bosnia and Herzegovina, he has cited the efforts of Milorad Dodik, leader of the entity of Republika Srpska, to establish ties to the Student List.

As far as relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina are concerned, it is clear that Milorad Dodik, the authoritarian leader of the entity of Republika Srpska, has already begun to seek links with the Student List, although during the campaign he had banned pre-election gatherings on the territory of this entity, he has declared.

Meanwhile, in reports with Croatia, it has estimated that Milorad Pupovci, one of the main representatives of the Serb community in this state, could play a role in reducing tensions between Zagreb and Belgrade.

The Serbian national community in Croatia has accepted the concept of constitutional patriotism and, as such, was unacceptable for co-operation with the Vuciqi regime. However, Milorad Pupovci, the main leader of the Serb community in Croatia, enjoys the confidence of the leadership of the Student List and may play an important role in calming tensions between Serbia and Croatia, following the formation of the new administration in Belgrade, has said to build.

Student List promises dialogue, but not Kosovo recognition

The statements of representatives of the Student List for Kosovo coincide with the assessment of the designer that political change in Serbia does not necessarily imply a change of attitude towards Kosovo independence.

Ilija Srdanovic, the first on the election list of this movement, has stated in an interview for Radio Free Europe that continuing dialogue with Kosovo on normalising relations is a fundamental part of their programme.

However, he has left open the possibility of reviewing agreements reached by previous powers, to assess whether they are in line with Serbia’s Constitution.

All protocols our officials have agreed on on behalf of Serbia can be reviewed to determine whether they are in line with the Constitution of the Republic of Serbia, Sredanovic has declared.

Meanwhile, Dejan Shoskiq, university professor and former governor of the National Bank of Serbia, mentioned as the possible candidate for prime minister, has declared that Kosovo is part of Serbia.

In an interview for the Croatian media media media, Shoskiq has relied on Serbia’s Constitution and on the interpretation of UN Security Council Resolution 1244 to argue his stance.

The constitution says that Kosovo and Metohia is an autonomous province within Serbia. On the other hand, the main international legal framework documents, such as UN Security Council Resolution 1244, say the same thing, Shoschkiq has declared.

These positions reinforce the designer’s assessment that, although the Student List may bring changes to the way Serbia handles relations with some of its neighbours, Kosovo remains the main exception.

The victory of this movement in the 25 October elections marks the decline, over a decade, of the Vuciqi regime.
