Kosovo Parliament Speaker Albulen Haxhiu has crashed with LDK deputy Lutfi Haziri during the extraordinary session, where she was discussing the murder of Arlinda Zekiaj in Vitomirica in Pec.
The clash began after Haziri’s speech, which criticised Government for its responsibility in ensuring the legal and physical safety of citizens.
Haziri said citizens’ security is one of the government’s main tasks and that institutions cannot distance themselves from responsibility for their protection.
He demanded that the Arlinda case serve as calls for reflection and concrete measures to prevent similar cases.
On the other hand, Haxhiu criticised past governments, claiming that sufficient action had not been taken during their mandates to deal with violence against women.
She declared that, according to her, institutional actions in this direction were initiated in 2021, when she took office of the justice minister.
Haxhiu also accused the LDK of exploiting the Parliament’s speaker on political charges, seeking caution in statements made during the Arlinda assassination debate.
