The head of the Vetevendosje Movement Parliamentary Group, Arberie Nagavci, has announced that they have initiated the establishment of a Parliamentary Investigative Commission in the case of the murder of Arlinda Zekit.
Through a Facebook post, Nagavci has said the commission will investigate the actions and inactions of institutions responsible for protecting Zekiaj’s life and security.

According to her, the investigation will include dealing with the victim’s indictments and warnings, risk assessment, implementation of defence orders, and actions by police, Prosecution, courts and other responsible institutions.
The commission is scheduled to have a six-month term, while within 60 days of its establishment it will present the Parliament with the initial findings and measures requiring immediate action.
Nagavci has stressed that the investigation will include the functioning of institutional mechanisms for the prevention and treatment of violence against women and children. It has demanded that there be consideration if there has been neglect, delays or institutional inaction, and to determine who has had the responsibility to act.
It must be explained who had the obligation to act, what actions were undertaken, and where institutional protection has failed, Nagavci wrote.
She has added that, given the investigation findings, concrete measures will be required and addressing responsibilities in competent organs.
