The unusual Museum That Is Surprising Amsterdam

An unusual museum in Amsterdam is drawing attention with a far different concept from traditional exhibitions: preservers appear to be free in nature, while visitors move through areas surrounded by metal cages.

The new museum, called Art Zoo, is created by Dutch artists Jaap Sinke and Ferry van Tongen, who have turned a historic building of the XVII century into an unusual artistic space.

The exhibition contains hundreds of preserved animals, skeletons and various natural objects, located on dramatic scenes that combine art, nature and imagination.

One of the most impressive objects is a giant crocodile hanging from the ceiling, while in other rooms visitors can see a gatopard placed in an unusual position, a giant spider crab and skeleton of prehistoric animals.

Artists have been inspired by the so-called Ununderhammer, rare collections of natural objects and the curiosity that European aristocrats collected during the 18th and XVII centuries.

According to the creators, the goal is not to imitate a traditional museum in natural history but to tell stories through animals and how they are represented in space.

Artists point out that the exhibitors have not been taken by wild nature but have mainly come from zoos where animals have died of natural causes.

With this concept, Art Zoo aims to challenge the traditional way in which people experience art and nature, transforming the entire building into an artistic work.
