Special Law, Nagavci: State-interest themes should not be used for party benefit

The head of the Vetevendosje Movement Parliamentary Group, Arberie Nagavci, has criticised the use of topics of state and strategic interest for party benefit, referring to changes in the Law on Specialised Chambers, which have been sent to Kosovo president for decree.

Asked whether the law could return to the Assembly, Nagavci has said there are already precedents when the president has returned the legislation approved by MPs.

It is important to mention once again that just to avoid such situations, we have insisted that we not rush into proceeding this important law and perhaps, unfortunately, is an example of how when topics that are of state and strategic interest are used for party benefit, bring us such situations, she said.

Nagavci has mentioned cases from the past legislature, when President Vjosa Osmani had returned two laws adopted by the Parliament, for which, according to her, the adoption process has not yet been completed.

Where should we go again? It should also be given consideration to the fact that there is already practice, that during the past legislature, at the time of President Vjosa Osmani, she had returned two of the laws that were passed in the Parliament, and as far as I am in knowledge, both of the laws — that is, they have not yet been adopted — are back to zero, she said.

Asked about the possibility of the president returning the law, Nagavci said he expects it to be considered carefully before making the decision.

There have been reports in the media, I believe, that the president, since it was the beginning of her mandate and the consolidation of the team, as now, carefully examines that she deserves this topic and that bill makes the right decision, she said. /EO
