Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has indicated that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice have yet 54 more hours to hand over the report in the case of the murder of Arlinda Zekaj, to clarify possible failures in each link of the institutional chain. He warned there would be measures in line with law and regulations.
Kurti said the report should light up the case to the end but also address similar cases, stressing that women who are victims of violence continue to face the danger of those who threaten them.

54 hours from now they have the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Justice, and this is the result that at last night’s session when the resolution was voted 67 votes, I said they have 72 hours. There will, of course, be measures in harmony with law and regulations. We’ll do everything we can, we know, but now speed’s the key. Simply, Arlinda Zekaj is a testimony to the battle for justice in the Republic of Kosovo, in the conditions when we as state and society should rule justice, and this could lead to many collapses, hard, investigative investigators, prosecution prosecutors and court judgments, Kurti said.
He stressed that reform in the justice system is not only important, but already urgent, citing the European Union’s continuing criticism of Kosovo for this system.
Of course, we are in phases where reform of the justice system is not only important, but urgent. Reports of the European Union country have mostly criticised us for the issue of the justice system year-on-year. The country’s European Union report due next week, in 38 areas in the past year, has found that we have had some sort of progress in 35. Only in three we’ve had progress, but we’ve never had a recession. But once again I am stressing, the biggest criticism from the European Union we’ve received no years, not years, but more than 10 years for the issue of the justice system, he said.
Kurti called for the investigation of investigators, the establishment of charges against prosecutors when there is basis and trial of cases by courts, saying the justice system should be urgently reformed.
Justice is not right. To avoid saying what is right, we are distorted. We need to direct justice. That means investigation into investigators and prosecutors and court judges. And this, if we have considered it important so far, we should now consider it urgent, Kurti said.
The prime minister, at the beginning of his speech, expressed condolences to the Zekiaj family, saying that the killing of Arlinda has caused great shock in the society.
First, we gather that once again we express condolences to the Zekiaj family for the death of the member of this family, whose murder has caused tremendous shock not only to the family of relatives, to friends and acquaintances, but to all citizens of our country who co-operate and are solidified with the request for justice, he said.
