Returning to Parliament for Review of Kosovo’s Specialised Chambers Law has sparked reactions and criticism against the Democratic Party of Kosovo ( The PDK, which initially drafted and requested its approval, while later urged President Justina Shiroka Pula to return for further consideration.

There’s no mistake in changing the Law on Specialised Rooms. None. I’m proud of the work I did, along with the team we drafted this law, he wrote Gruda.

He has said the law has been consulted with the respective parties and that he would prefer the debate to focus on its implementation, not the reopening of discussions.

I stand today, and I will stay until the end behind any letter of this law, he stressed, adding that any review in the Assembly should be done with legal arguments and with the aim of maintaining its essence.

Meanwhile, the researcher at the Kosovo Democratic Institute ( Eugen Cakoli has criticized The PDK has been dealing with the process of drafting and adopting the law.

Which way is it possible that the same party took credit for both the design and the adoption, and the return of the Special Law, even though it guaranteed everything was in order and insisted on immediate approval?!

He has also questioned the reasons for the return of the law, stressing that the president has constitutional responsibility to assess it independently.

The criticism has also expressed analyst Imer Mushkolaj, who has raised doubts that developments could be linked to an internal political battle in the PDK and with electoral calculations.

) The PDK should tell us what has changed since October 6th, when the law was passed. No one from the PDK has clarified this, Mushkolaj has declared.

Meanwhile, analyst Astrit Gashi has named the PDK’s request for the return of the law as unjust action against citizens, recalling the protests that were held for his adoption.

We’re dealing with a game, which is completely undignified of the PDK. It’s unfair to citizens. And an evil law, if they write (it), The PDK is not supposed to be what it requires to withdraw, Gashi has declared at Debat Plus.

President Shiroka Pula returned the law to the Assembly after the PDK’s official request, which said the review is aimed at meeting specific provisions and strengthening judicial security, warning it expects its approval again after four weeks.

The changes adopted on 6 October are aimed at limiting the jurisdiction of Specialised Chambers, changing the time period of crimes that can be addressed, transferring specific cases to Kosovo, and determining the maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.

The law was passed at the time when thousands of citizens protested, calling for changes in the functioning of the Special Court following the first degree trial of four former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders: Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi.
