The Parliamentary Investigative Commission has been constitutionalised for institutional actions and inactions regarding the murder of Arlinda Zekiaj and the treatment of violence against children and women in the family.

The commission is headed by Burim Ramadani of the Alliance, while the deputy chairman is Adnan Rrustemi by the Vetevendosje Movement.

Ramadani has said that the final report of this commission will be based on facts and not on political positions, demanding that his work be not politicised.

He has stressed that the aim of the commission is to complete all working phases over time, including investigations, collection and analysis of evidence, as well as preparation of the final report.

Ramadani has also conveyed a message regarding women’s defence, saying no women in Kosovo should remain vulnerable after addressing institutions for assistance.

The commission is comprised of 11 members and has a maximum mandate of six months to investigate the actions and inactions of institutions in the Arlinda Zekiaj case, as well as institutional treatment of violence against women and children in the family.

The Kosovo Assembly had established this commission on 29 October, with 90 votes for it. Arlinda Zekaj was killed on October 25th in Vitomirica, Pec. Just three days before the assassination, she had sent letters to institutions, warning that her life was in danger.
