Arlinda Zekaj, 49-year-old from Vitomirica of Pec, was killed on the evening of October 25th 2026.

And today, the Constitutional Prosecutor in Pec, the General Department has indicated that it has filed a request for the detention measure against defendants Jeton Sylaj, due to the alleged suspicion of having committed the criminal act, according to the Republic of Kosovo’s Penal Code.

According to the request, on October 25, 2026, around 17:58, on the street of Moon Dedushaj, in the village of Vitomirica, Pec municipality, the defendant allegedly failed to comply with the 1st clause of the Constitutional Court’s decision device in Pec, dated October 16, 2026.

Otherwise, the murder of Arlinda Zekiaj has raised major concerns about the institutional treatment of domestic violence, as Zekiaj had repeatedly sought help and raised concerns about her security. In the letter published in the photo, the victim had requested urgent measures against officials who, according to her, have not fulfilled their duties.

It also called for investigating institutional responsibilities and taking concrete action on the issue for which it had sought assistance.

Kosovo Police Inspectorate ( The IPK, under the mandate and legal competencies, has indicated that it has begun undertaking investigative and verifiating actions concerning the way Kosovo Police treat all cases reported by Arlinda Zekiaj.
