The RTK Union Federation has reacted after publishing the European Commission’s progress report on Kosovo, praising that its findings confirm the serious financial and institutional state in which the public broadcaster is located.
In a media communiqué, this union federation says concerns about RTK’s situation have constantly raised them, seeking solutions from responsible institutions, but, according to it, thus far no concrete measures have been offered.
The report provides for lack of a stable and independent funding model, insufficient budget, accumulated debts, financial obligations, property problems and institutional instability. This situation cannot continue indefinitely, nor can it be addressed as a problem that can be solved with temporary decisions, the FSRTK communiqué says.
In the face of this situation, the RTK Union Federation requires the Assembly, Government and responsible institutions to take immediate measures to ensure the public broadcaster’s stable and independent financing, in line with law in force, as well as resolution of debts and financial obligations.
It also calls for resolving property issues, ensuring institutional and leadership stability, as well as improving working conditions and raising workers’ salaries.
The Federation stresses that it will not give up demands for more dignified salaries, better working conditions and respect for workers’ rights.
The contributions and professionalism of workers must be assessed by well-deserved treatment and compensation. responsibilities and commitment from workers cannot be sought, while rights and well-being remain in second place, the response is said.
In the end, the Union Federation has called on institutions not to further prolong the solution to RTK’s problems, demanding concrete decisions and not just promises.
) RTK cannot be held hostage to institutional neglect, while workers cannot continue to pay the price of this responsibility, the communique reported.
The Federation concluded the response with the request that institutions take responsibility for the state of public broadcaster and guarantee the dignity, respect and compensation deserved for RTK workers.
