Emotionon son of Michael Schumacher: I would give up everything just to talk to my father

Mick Schumacher (27), son of Formula legend 1, Michael Schumacher, rarely speaks publicly about his relationship with his father. However, in Netflix’s documentary, “Schumacher,” he has openly confessed how much he lacks talking to his father, especially now that he himself knows what it means to be a professional pilot.

I and my father understand it in a special way because we speak the same language, automotive language, Mick said in the documentary carried out in collaboration with the Schumacher family.

Michael Schumacher, seven-time world champion in Formula 1, suffered serious injuries in a ski accident in Mérbel, France, in December 2013. Since then, he has never appeared again publicly, while his family has almost never talked about his state of health. Mick was only 14 when the accident occurred.

In the documentary, Mick has admitted that he often thinks about all the things he could share with his father today, especially his experiences in the world of automobileism.

I believe my father and I would understand each other differently now, just because we speak the same language, the language of automobileism. We would have so much to discuss. That’s what I think of most. I would give up everything just to get this opportunity, he confessed.

Mick also talked about the lack of moments he once spent with his father.

After the accident, those moments no longer exist, the moments that many other people share with their parents. I think that’s kind of unfair, he’s admitted.

Despite everything, Mick has many beautiful memories of his childhood with his father, Mother Corinna, and Sister Gina-Maria.

When I think about the past, I remember the four of us having fun together. I remember driving cards around the village when we rode a pony and spent time together. These are memories that make me happy, he told me.

The Schumacher family has been precisely protecting Michael’s privacy for years. His wife, Corinna, has explained in the documentary that even before the accident, Michael had devoted special importance to the separation of private life from public.

Like his father, Mick chose a career in automobileism. In 2018, he won the European champion title in Formula 3, while two years later he was declared champion of Formula 2. These successes paved the way to Forum 1, where he competed for the Haa team.

Although Michael has often been compared in his career, Mick repeatedly stressed that he wants to create his own history and successes.

I can build my inheritance, admiring at the same time everything my father has accomplished, he said.

Mick, however, does not hide how much he would like to discuss racing and track experiences with his father. As he admitted in the documentary, these are among the things he most lacks. /Telegraphy/
