I wish you wouldn’t answer my life after my life was taken. ) Shocking letters Arlinda Zakaj handed over to the Prosecution three days before he was killed

I wish the day would not come when you and responsible institutions would be forced to render an account only after my life is taken. )

Those words were written by Arlinda Silla Zekaj in a letter to the chief prosecutor of the Constitutional Prosecutorship in Pec, which bears the seal of the October 22nd 2026 accession. Just three days later, on October 25, she was brutally murdered at her home in Vitomirica, and her brother – in – law was suspected of her crime.

The signal newspaper has exclusively secured Arlinda’s letter, through which it required urgent intervention of institutions, execution of a judicial order and investigation of officials who, according to it, had failed in fulfilling the tasks.

The letter, addressed to the chief prosecutor and marked as an emergency, contains a shocking warning of the danger the victim felt toward her life.

In it, it called for taking measures against responsible officials, claiming that responsibilities were being carried from one institution to another, while the risk for her life continued.

Arlinda had also called for the immediate execution of the judicial order and the opening of investigations into officials involved, starting with the Centre for Social Work.

This is my last addition, she wrote, before expressing fears that institutions could be held accountable only after life was taken.

At the end of the letter, Arlinda also wrote the words:

Now I understand why there are so many murders! )

Three days after receiving this letter to the Prosecutor, 49-year-old girl was found murdered in the bedroom, at her home on the streets of Dedushaj, in Vitomirica.

Tragedy occurred under even more disturbing circumstances, since Arlinda had appeared as a victim of domestic violence that evening.

She was interviewed by investigators, and about 20:58 was home by police patrol. Just about ten minutes later, police were notified of the murder.

According to initial information, her brother – in – law, Albert Sylaj, allegedly hit her with an axe in her head.

The letter provided by the signal raises serious questions about how institutions had addressed its warnings and defence requirements.

Was the judicial order for which she had sought intervention executed? What actions were taken after receiving the letter? Was the danger to her life appreciated, and what measures were taken for her safety?

These are questions for which responsible institutions should provide clarification.

The document does not automatically testify to the criminal or disciplinary responsibility of any official, but testifies that Arlinda had raised concrete concerns about her security and had demanded institutional action before she was killed.

She had written that she feared the day the institutions would be held accountable only after life was taken. Three days later Arlinda was no longer alive.

The signal paper will seek answers from competent institutions to handle this letter and measures that were taken prior to its assassination.
