The major international operation against money laundering is also extending to one of Pristina’s renowned business facilities. Numerous Kosovo Police forces have been engaged in the facility, near the Derand Hotel, where even call centres, known as Call Center, operate.

The signal paper has provided photos from the location, where police members and police vehicles engaged under the action being conducted today, November 3rd.

The facility is located on the street area of Bekim Fehmiu, near the Derand Hotel, while the police presence in this location is part of the broader operation under way in several Kosovo cities.

Signal sources suggest that the Directorate for Investigation of Economic Crimes and Corruption has been engaged in the action, under investigations into alleged money laundering, with international scope.

The operation, according to information provided by the paper, is under order by the Constitutional Court in Pristina Special Department, under the investigation of the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo.

Besides Pristina, police action is taking place in Ferizaj and Fushe Kosovo, while the operation is co-ordinated with international authorities, including those in Germany and other European states.

Focused on even terminal objects of Call Center

The presence of police at the Arting facility takes on special importance to the fact that call centers are operating in this facility.

Financial fraud through Call Center has become the target of several investigations in Kosovo, including cases where foreign citizens have allegedly been misled through false investment bids.

However, for today’s operation it still remains to confirm which subjects within the facility are specifically involved in checks and whether any of the call centres are subject to the investigation.

According to signal sources, mobile phones, computers, electronic devices, financial documentation, cash, gold and other valuables are being requested under the raids.

There is still no confirmed data on the number of individuals eventually arrested or on items that may have been seized at the facility of N. Arting.

The operation continues, as the Signal newspaper is tracking developments in the field and other locations where police units are engaged.
