A woman who sought protection from domestic violence did not survive the evening. She appeared at the police station, interviewed and returned home by police officials. Just a few minutes later, in the same house, she was found dead.
The signal newspaper learns that the victim is Arlinda Silla Zekaj, 49-year-old from the village of Vitomirica of Peja, while her brother-in-law, Albert Sylaj, is the suspect.
The tragic event took place on Sunday evening, October 25th, 2026, on the streets of Man Dedushaj, in Vitomirica.
According to information provided by the signal, around 7:00 p.m., Arlinda was brought from a police patrol at the Police Station in Pec, after being reported as a victim of domestic violence.
She had been interviewed by investigators at the Family Violence Investigation Unit, while around 20:58 was sent by police patrols to her home.
About ten minutes after police officials had left, police accepted another announcement from the same location. This time, it was murder.
The police unit immediately returned to the scene, where inside the bedroom it found Arlinda with no signs of life.
According to initial information, Albert Sylaj, the victim’s brother – in – law, allegedly hit him with a axe on his head and then left the house.
He allegedly left in a Volkswagen Golf 3, red, while the license plates have yet to be identified.
The emergency team has arrived at the scene, which has ascertained the death of 49 years.
