Donika Grovalla, ten years ago, sought political and moral responsibility from the ministers then after Astrit Dehar’s death in Prizren prison. Today, after Arlinda Zekiaj’s assassination in Pec, she is being called for resignation.
In a response released at the time, Gervala demanded the resignation of Interior Minister Skender Hysen, and Justice Minister Gift Hoxha, praising that political responsibility should have been taken earlier.
The Interior Minister and Justice Minister with her ridiculous statements would have had to resign since a week ago, she wrote.
Gervala had also stressed that moral and political responsibility should be part of the standards of political elite in Kosovo.
Ten years later, the case of the assassination of Arlinda Zekiaj has sparked protests and demands for institutional responsibilities, including calls for the resignation of Gervala and Interior Affairs Minister Jelal Svecla.
Protests are being held before Kosovo institutions, while Gervala and Svecla have not resigned. Both have warned a media conference.
Meanwhile, in regard to the case of Arlinda Zekaj, Kosovo Police Inspectorate has sponsored 11 police officials in Pec, including officials of top command positions. Also, the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council has sponsored Peja’s chief prosecutor and another prosecutor.
Comparisons between the Gervala’s earlier statements and today’s calls for resignation have turned to attention its positions on the political and moral responsibility of state officials.
