The prolonged drought and the use of water for electricity production have resulted in a significant decline in the level of Lake Kukes, which serves as a reservoir for Fierza’s hydropower plant.
Drini’s trees, which have dropped under 80 cubic metres of water per second, while the aggressors continue to be at work, have accelerated the land level of the lake.

As a result, the ruins of the old Kukes have again surfaced. The former center of the city, the monument to the First Bird and the bunker, while the feet of the old Kukes bridge have also been discovered.
But drawing water has more than historical consequences. It is also damaging water habitat. Hundreds of mollusks have died and remain on the shores of the lake.
Official KESH data has not yet been updated, but the water level is estimated to have dropped below 250m quota, while the flows remain well below the annual average.
This situation increases the risk of limiting or docking Fierza’s hydropower plant.
The appearance of the ruins of the old Kukes is a rare phenomenon, but this year they have appeared twice within ten months. /Top Channel
