The legal representative of the family of the late Arlinda Zekaj, lawyer Besnik Berisha, has stated that her murder should not be treated only as an event that occurred on the night she was killed, as, according to him, there were warnings of the danger she faced much earlier.
Berisha, during his statement, said that on November 12th 2025, Arlinda had written to her brother, announcing a threat her husband had made to her.

jetton warned me that all of Kosovo has to know what’s going on with you, enjoying the remaining days, Berisha quoted the message Arlinda had sent to his brother.
He also criticised the way the institutions had addressed calls for Arlinda’s help, saying he had not expected the institutions to be infallible, but neither did its warnings and defence requirements be ignored to that extent.
I believe that no citizens of the Republic of Kosovo have any expectations that the state is perfect and that our institutions are not mistaken compared to European states, but I believe that not many of us who have the day have believed that we have become so bad we have become so ignored the screams and calls to be together with children and to remain on its property a citizen who left with her hand. Arlinda physically moved from this life to the most vulnerable way a wicked man took his life, but I have to underline a fact that Arlinda’s life was not only taken that night, as action took place that night, but as a warning, at least we have tangible evidence with warning long before your days were numbered. Arlinda on November 12th, 2025, a year earlier, writes to her brother and says I just want her to know that you’re the one who warned me that all of Kosovo has to know what’s going on with you, enjoy the remaining days, Berisha said.
Berisha stressed that the family demands justice not only for Arlinda but also for other women who expect protection from institutions.
We are interested in justice, not revenge justice, for a person who lost his life in the most likely way, but also for women waiting for this justice and for those victims who don’t know written and don’t know anyone in the Prosecutor’s Police, he said.
The lawyer added that the Arlinda case should serve as a call for institutional and social mobilization so that such cases will not be repeated.
Likewise, Berisha said that, if he were the prosecutor of the case, he would also start investigating her husband for the possibility of participating in murder in the form of co-ordination, inciting or inciting.
He stressed that the investigation should include the circumstances preceding the assassination, adding that responsibility should not be limited to the failure of a decision.
