A plane of Aer Lingus, operating from Dublin to Rome, has been forced to divert toward an air base in Normandy, France, following a bomb threat.
The news has been made known by the French prime minister’s office, Sébastien Le Cornu, who has announced that the Airbus A320-type plane has landed safely at the Evreux air base.

A total of 157 were on the plane, including 151 passengers and six crew members.
According to reports, the plane changed direction during flight near Paris and conducted several maneuvers over the Evreux area after declaring emergency situations.
The French prime minister’s office has suggested that it is closely monitoring the situation. Meanwhile, bomb disposal units have been deployed at the air base, while passengers have moved to a safe location.
The incident comes a day after at least seven flights and a cruise ship in Europe received bomb threats, causing disruptions and increased security measures at several airports and ports. However, explosive devices were not found during the search.
On Tuesday, such a threat forced a passenger plane flying from London to make an emergency landing in Poland. While three other threats caused inspections or deviations from Manchester, Copenhagen, and Israel.
Also, concern was caused at the port of Syros, following a complaint about an explosive device suspected on a tourist ship. After the search, however, nothing suspicious was found.
So far, it has not been known whether these threats have any link between them. No person or group has claimed responsibility for the incidents.
Events have added concerns about hybrid threats to infrastructure in Europe, at a time when security tensions remain high after Ukraine’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine.
